News from DJJ's Hair Care Initiative

Update from Division of Community Services - Deputy Commissioner Catina Martin-Fenner

On behalf of the entire Division of Community Services team, I would like to thank everyone who made the Department of Juvenile Justice Hair Care Initiative such a huge success! From June, until September DJJ staff collected approximately 2,343 hair care products for our youth in facilities across the state.  The Division of Community Services would like to recognize all of the Regional Administrators who helped organize the collection drive:

• SOUTHEASTERN REGION - Rusty Rodgers, Regional Administrator (784 ITEMS)

• NORTHWESTERN REGION - Robb Gilstrap, Regional Administrator (737 ITEMS)

• NORTHEASTERN REGION - Todd Bentley, Regional Administrator (415 ITEMS)

• SOUTHWESTERN REGION - Tamara Barber, Regional Administrator (407 ITEMS)

(All of the toiletry items have been delivered to DJJ facilities)

The Division of Community Services would like to thank the generosity of all of the Department of Juvenile Justice employees who participated in this year's Hair Care Initiative.  It is because of the kind donations and genuine support by the DJJ Family that made the initiative a success and is helping to build the confidence of our youth while in our care.
