DJJ Honored by Cobb County Board of Commissioners for Virtual Juvenile Court Hearing Program

On Tuesday, December 15, the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) and its Marietta Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC) received Certificates of Appreciation from the Cobb County Board of Commissioners for its work in establishing a system to conduct virtual juvenile court hearings during the COVID-19 pandemic.

RIBBON-CUTTING CEREMONY HELD FOR EVENING REPORTING CENTER IN VALDOSTA

Lowndes County, GA – The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) and the Southwest Key Programs held a ribbon-cutting ceremony today for a new rehabilitation center for at-risk youth in the Valdosta area. Named the Evening Reporting Center, the program will offer after-school educational assistant and counseling to non-detained DJJ youth.

DJJ HOLDS JUVENILE CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS GRADUATION CEREMONY

The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) hosted a graduation ceremony for 37 newly trained cadets on Friday, July 10, at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth, Georgia. These cadets are now Juvenile Correctional Officers (JCO) and will join the ranks of other JCOs at 25 state-run facilities throughout Georgia.

Oliver Named to Council of Juvenile Justice Administrators Board

The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) is pleased to announce that Commissioner Tyrone Oliver has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Council of Juvenile Justice Administrators (CJJA).  Commissioner Oliver will be one of four Regional Representatives and Chair of the South Region for CJJA.  

Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice Coronavirus (COVID-19) Update

Today, the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) was notified that a staff member at the Metro Regional Youth Detention Center in DeKalb County has tested positive for the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
