Join our Juvenile Probation and Parole Specialists (JPPS) team as they guide and support youth under court supervision. You’ll assist with case management, observe court processes, and see how Georgia DJJ professionals use counseling, structure, and empathy to change lives.

Counseling, Social Services & Medical Services

DJJ Intership

Healing and hope in motion.

Work alongside Counselors, Social Workers, Nurses, and Psychologists at Georgia DJJ facilities and community centers. Interns assist with behavioral assessments, treatment planning, and support services for youth and their families.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

Intern four

To qualify for the DJJ Internship Program, applicants must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Be a Junior or Senior enrolled at an accredited college or university
  • Be in good academic standing
  • Have no felony convictions
  • Pass a Criminal History Background Check
  • Have a genuine interest in working with at-risk youth

HOW TO APPLY?

  • Internship Application
  • Applicant Background Self-Checklist
  • DJJ Loyalty Oath (notarized)
  • DJJ Background Authorization (notarized)
  • GA Driver’s License History Consent Form
  • Copy of Driver’s License and Social Security Card

Note: All applicants must complete background clearance before placement.

To be considered for an internship with DJJ, students must complete and submit an internship application packet, which will include the following documents:

  • Internship Application
  • Applicant Background Self Check List
  • DJJ Loyalty Oath signed in the presence of a notary
  • DJJ Background Authorization signed in the presence of a notary
  • Background clearance is necessary
  • GA Driver’s License History Consent Form
  • Copy of Driver’s License and Social Security Card

PROGRAM DETAILS

Internships are offered year-round, including fall, winter, spring, and summer.

DJJ Internship Two

Each intern is matched with a professional mentor and may receive academic credit for approved work experience.

  • Unpaid program, but invaluable for real-world learning
  • Internship duration and requirements are determined jointly by Georgia DJJ, the student, and the academic institution
  • Available placements across Georgia at our headquarters in DeKalb County, secure facilities and community service offices
