DJJ GRADUATES JUVENILE CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS IN DECEMBER

Decatur, GA – The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) hosted a graduation ceremony for 55 newly-trained Juvenile Correctional Officer (JCO) cadets on Friday, December 9th, at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth, Ga. The cadets have now joined the ranks of other JCOs at state-run secure facilities throughout Georgia.

 

DJJ AND GEORGIA TECH HOLD GRADUATION CEREMONY IN CHATHAM COUNTY

(Decatur, GA) The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ), in partnership with the Georgia Institute of Technology’s (Georgia Tech) Supply Chain and Logistics Institute, and the Georgia Tech Professional Education Department, held a graduation ceremony for DJJ youth who completed the Georgia Tech Logistics Education and Pathway (LEAP) training program on Nov. 17 in Savannah, Ga.

GA DJJ COMMISSIONER ELECTED ACA VICE PRESIDENT

(Decatur, GA) – The American Correctional Association (ACA) announced on November 4 that Tyrone Oliver, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ), was elected as the organization's next Vice President. Commissioner Oliver, appointed in 2019 by Governor Brian P. Kemp to lead DJJ, will be sworn into the voluntary post during the ACA's Winter Meeting in January 2023.

DJJ Graduates 28 Juvenile Correctional Officers

(Decatur, Ga.) – The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) held a graduation ceremony for 28 newly-trained Juvenile Correctional Officers (JCO) on Friday, August 26, at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth, Ga. The cadets will join the ranks of other JCOs at secure facilities across the state.

DJJ ROCKDALE COUNTY FACILITY RECEIVES NATIONAL ACCREDITATION

Decatur, GA – The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) announced today that the Rockdale Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC), located in Conyers, Ga., obtained reaccreditation from the American Correctional Association (ACA). The secure facility for justice-involved youth underwent robust operations and treatment service audits, receiving reaccreditation during the ACA's 152nd Congress of Correction, August 4-7, in New Orleans, La. 

DJJ HOLDS GRADUATION CEREMONY FOR JUSTICE-INVOLVED YOUTH

Decatur, GA – The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) held its annual spring high school commencement ceremony for youth enrolled in the DJJ School System on Friday, May 27. Twenty-four high school diplomas and 15 General Equivalency Degrees (GED) diplomas were awarded to qualifying students.

DJJ PARTNERS WITH STEPHENS COUNTY TO PROVIDE JOBS TO YOUTH

(Decatur, Ga.) – The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) announced today the expansion of the agency's career opportunity program F.R.E.S.H Start Youth Initiative. DJJ is now partnering with the Stephens County Development Authority (SCDA) to help ensure justice-involved youth in Northeast Georgia have access to gainful employment.
