Photos and story support by Office of Planning & Preparedness Director Scott Cagle
On April 2nd, Office of Planning & Preparedness Director Scott Cagle and Regional Emergency Management Coordinator John Parker were sworn in by Georgia Fire Marshal Dwayne Garriss. The swearing-in by the Office of the Fire Marshal is completed on an annual basis for individuals who meet the criteria for training in local fire inspections, fire plan review and fire investigation. This was the first year of certification for Coordinator Parker and the third year of certification for Director Cagle.
The DJJ Emergency Management/Fire Marshal's Office was established in 2016 by Commissioner Avery D. Niles. The Office of Planning & Preparedness helps DJJ carry out Commissioner Niles' top priority of operating secure facilities and communities in the safest way possible.
Under the leadership of Director Cagle, the Office of Planning & Preparedness has continued to grow in knowledge and experience. In addition, the Office of Planning & Preparedness serves as DJJ's liaison with the Georgia Emergency Management Agency/Homeland Security with the ultimate goal of DJJ certification for emergency management within the next year.
