Each month, nominations for the two categories are submitted to the leadership team within each facility. The facility leadership team is the governing body that methodically reviews each nomination with an emphasis on the content provided on the nomination form. If a member of the leadership team has nominated someone in either category, he/she must be removed during the final decision/vote for that category. Ideally, nominations should come from direct supervisors or co-workers.

Nominations must be submitted to the facility director’s secretary by the 25th day of each month. The facility leadership team will be required to review all nominations by the 28th day of each month and submitted to the Assistant Deputy Commissioner’s office no later than that day.

The nomination criteria are similar for each category. Both employees and managers/supervisors must be dedicated and committed to the job at hand, and must exemplify the Mission and Vision of the Department of Juvenile Justice. Each nominee individual must have a sense of pride and inspire others to do better.

Those nominated for the employee of the month must show initiative and drive to go above and their required job performance. Those nominated for the manager/supervisor of the month must show initiative and drive to go above and their required job performance.
