EMPLOYEE SPOTLIGHT: JCO COUNTESS TANKSLEY
DJJ recognizes JCO Countess Tanksley from the Claxton Regional Youth Detention Center in this month's Employee Spotlight. Celebrating her one-year anniversary at the facility, JCO Tanksley’s dedication and enthusiasm has led to a recent promotion to a JCO II and recognition from her peers.
Countess takes her job seriously because she has been down the road that many youths in DJJ facilities have traveled.
"I understand what it's like to feel like you don't have a voice. I understand what it's like to want to tell someone what you're going through, but you're too afraid, or you don't know the words to help you explain what's happening to you," Tanksley said.
What advice does Countess have for others to succeed at DJJ?
"Have a passion for the department and especially the kids. We need officers who are serious about the field and who genuinely care about seeing these kids become successful inside and outside of the facility. I honestly believe, from attending BJCOT, DJJ truly cares about its officers."
DJJ thanks Countess Tanksley for her passion and service to the agency.
