Decatur ISP: Socks for Seniors
Photo and story support by Meredith Dunaway
During February, the Decatur County Intense Supervision Probation (ISP) staff was proud to participate in the Third Annual Socks for Seniors community service project. Partnering with Bainbridge Kids N Kops, Kingdom Security of Dothan and local youth, the HITS unit collected over 240 pairs of socks.
The Socks for Seniors community service project annually finishes on Valentine's Day with local youth presenting residents of local nursing homes with warm socks tastefully hosted in a festive velum bag with a bow. This year, ISP youth were able to serve two nursing home locations, Memorial Hospital and Manor (nursing home division) and Bainbridge Healthcare Nursing Home and Rehab Care facility. The over 200 seniors who received socks were appreciative of the thoughtful effort of the ISP youth and staff.
The Socks for Seniors community service project brings together different groups of people to help serve and recognize older citizens in our cities and towns. Special thanks goes out to JPO I Kizzie Foster and OPS Support Manager Brian Harrelson for their work in this important group activity.
