DJJ Holds Georgia Preparatory Academy Spring Graduation Ceremonies

During the week of May 24, the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) held graduation ceremonies around the state for youth attending the Georgia Preparatory Academy (GPA). Nineteen high school diplomas and thirty-one GED diplomas were awarded at nine DJJ facilities over five days.

 

DJJ LAUNCHES “MY LIFE, YOUR STORY” INITIATIVE

Today, the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) is launching the “My Life, Your Story” initiative through its Office of Reentry Services. This program highlights the transformation of DJJ-involved youth and provides a conduit to reach other youthful offenders or at-risk teens through the art of letter-writing. The following letter is the first of many that will be highlighted from a DJJ youth in custody at one of our secure facilities or under supervision in the community.

GA Department of Juvenile Justice School System Earns System Accreditation

The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) announced today that their school system, the Georgia Preparatory Academy, has earned system accreditation by Cognia Global Accreditation Commission, a nonprofit organization that provides quality assurance for schools, school districts and education service providers.

The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) will host a Statewide Virtual Hiring Event from Tuesday, March 23, 2021, until Thursday, March 25, 2021.  DJJ is searching for dedicated individuals to work at their youth development campuses located across Georgia.

DJJ Honored by Cobb County Board of Commissioners for Virtual Juvenile Court Hearing Program

On Tuesday, December 15, the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) and its Marietta Regional Youth Detention Center (RYDC) received Certificates of Appreciation from the Cobb County Board of Commissioners for its work in establishing a system to conduct virtual juvenile court hearings during the COVID-19 pandemic.

RIBBON-CUTTING CEREMONY HELD FOR EVENING REPORTING CENTER IN VALDOSTA

Lowndes County, GA – The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) and the Southwest Key Programs held a ribbon-cutting ceremony today for a new rehabilitation center for at-risk youth in the Valdosta area. Named the Evening Reporting Center, the program will offer after-school educational assistant and counseling to non-detained DJJ youth.
