Georgia DJJ Graduates 21 Community Services Officers
(Decatur, GA) - The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) hosted a graduation ceremony for 21 community services officers on Friday, March 13, at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth, Ga.
“Our Juvenile Probation Officers (JPOs), Juvenile Probation Parole Specialists (JPPSs), and Juvenile Program Managers (JPMs) provide important case management and counseling while overseeing DJJ youth in communities across the state,” said DJJ Commissioner Shawanda Reynolds-Cobb. “I am grateful for their dedication to serving our youth.”
The Basic Community Services Training (BCST) is a 200-hour course that provides the knowledge and skills necessary to perform duties in support of the DJJ mission. Basic Juvenile Probation Officer Training (BJPOT) is a 280-hour training program designed to meet the requirements established by DJJ and the Peace Officer Standards Training (POST) Council.
The graduating classes represent staff from Baldwin, Bartow, Bibb, Butts, Cherokee, Cobb, Doughtery, Elbert, Fulton, Hall, Muscogee, Paulding, Spaulding, Stephens, and Troup counties.
JPPS II JaTaya Carter was the Highest GPA Award recipient, JPO I Caleb Graves earned the Top Gun Award for the highest firearms qualification score, and JPO I Gregory Evans Jr. was named Class Leader.
