Juvenile Probation/Parole Specialist II
DUTIES
Juvenile Probation/Parole Specialist II (JPPS 2): Under general supervision, provides social services to assist in the rehabilitation of law offenders in custody or on probation. Makes recommendations for actions involving the formulation of a rehabilitation plan and the treatment of youth, including conditional release and education and employment stipulations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Juvenile Probation/Parole Specialist II:
- Associate degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND two (2) years of job-related experience in a human services delivery setting.
- OR Four (4) years of direct case management job-related experience working with offenders and their families in a human services delivery setting.
- OR Two (2) years of experience at the lower-level Juv. Probation/Parole Spec 1 (SSP130) or position equivalent.
Note: Must possess and maintain State of Georgia P.O.S.T. certification within the first 6 months of employment.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess the following:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university
- All related experience, including relevant University/College internships and work-study, may be evaluated as an equivalent substitution for work experience, as calculated and deemed appropriate.
- This position is eligible for a Military Incentive. This incentive is for current/former service members who have served on active duty.
PHYSICAL AGILITY STANDARDS
This position requires the ability to perform physically demanding activities associated with maintaining safety and security within our secured facilities and community settings. Candidates must be capable of meeting agency-established physical agility standards and may be required to successfully complete a validated physical agility assessment before hiring and at other intervals as required by agency policy.
The Department of Juvenile Justice reserves the right to modify physical agility standards and testing requirements as necessary to meet operational, legal, accreditation, certification, or safety requirements.
