DJJ HOLDS JUVENILE CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS GRADUATION CEREMONY

The Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) hosted a graduation ceremony for 40 newly trained Cadets on Friday, May 22, at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth, Georgia. These Cadets are now Juvenile Correctional Officers (JCO) and will join the ranks of other JCOs at 25 state-run facilities throughout Georgia.

“Our dedicated workforce is one of our most valuable assets,” said DJJ Commissioner Tyrone Oliver. “I am pleased to welcome these JCOs to the DJJ Team and I look forward to seeing them thrive. They will help to reshape the lives of committed youth.”

Basic Juvenile Correctional Officer Training is a 240-hour comprehensive program that provides basic skills training in security practices and procedures. To complete the program, a cadet must meet established standards on written examinations that evaluate cognitive knowledge, as well as performance-oriented examinations.

The graduates will be assigned to 15 different secure facilities near their places of residence across Georgia. The facilities are in Baldwin, Clayton, DeKalb, Dodge, Floyd, Fulton, Hall, Macon-Bibb, Muscogee, Terrell, Richmond, Rockdale, Wilkes counties.
