Michael Murphy
Born in Fayetteville, North Carolina and growing up in Washington, D.C., Michael was a graduate of Archbishop Carroll High School in northeast Washington. Michael went on to graduate from St. Louis University with a BS in Marketing. He has spent over 25 years in corporate America with Ford Marketing Corporation and Dunkin Donuts, Inc. where he Purchasing Manager, Director of Quality Control and Director of Consumer Affairs before leaving the company to run for US Congress in 1994(MA-9). Michael began his political career in 1985 when he decided to run for the Town of Canton Board of Health. He went on to serve three terms in the office. In 1990, he ran for the Governor’s Council and won every precinct against a well-known family name in Massachusetts’s politics.
Michael has an extensive experience in environmental affairs. He was the Town of Canton’s representative to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Resource Recovery project. He ultimately recommended the town become a charter community in a similar project in Rochester, MA through the energy Answers Corporation out of Albany, NY with its signing of a 20 year contract that saved the town over $400,000 per year in tipping fees. He was also instrumental in getting Dunkin Donuts of America into recycled content paper goods and environmental food packaging that resulted in raw material cost savings. Michael came to Atlanta with a group of environmentally dedicated business partners to start a recycling firm in Atlanta’s Empowerment Zone Area. Michael was President and General Manager of Renewal, Inc.
Michael is past chairman of the Austell Community Taskforce. Current board member of the Family Life Restoration Center, Star-C, president of STING, Inc. and most recently ran for mayor of the new city of Mableton.
Michael is currently president and CEO of M3 Innovations, LLC. It has a number of entities under its umbrella including distributorship for 360 Health and Hygiene, Switch Lighting USA, as well as an affiliate relationship with Aquatree products in the area of vertical farming featuring micro greens. Most recently, Michael has joined forces with MVMines to address the need for environmental stewardship and the elimination of landfills.
