Cindy Wang

DJJ Legal Services is headed by General Counsel Cindy Wang, who also serves as the Department’s Ethics Officer. GC Wang graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Georgia State University where she received a full Presidential Scholarship. She earned her juris doctorate from the University of Georgia School of Law and was admitted to the Georgia State Bar in 1999. GC Wang previously served as Legislative Liaison, Special Assistant Attorney General, and General Counsel for the state public defender agency where she successfully advocated for indigent defense and handled legal matters that arose during implementation and operation of the first-ever statewide indigent defense system. She also was an adjunct professor for the Atlanta John Marshall Law School. GC Wang has served on the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council as a council member by designation and a member on the CJCC Victims Compensation Awards Appeals Board, earning a commendation from former Governor Sonny Perdue. She is admitted to the bars of the Supreme Court of Georgia, Court of Appeals of Georgia, and U.S. District Court—Northern District of Georgia. GC Wang also chairs the Georgia State Bar’s Children and the Courts Standing Committee and serves on the Executive Committee of the Child Protection and Advocacy Section.
