Second Chance Month at DJJ

scm26

As we wrap up April and celebrate Second Chance Month, the Georgia Department of Juvenile Justice is proudly reaffirming our dedication to supporting youth as they transition back into their communities.

To highlight the significance of Second Chance Month, Georgia DJJ partnered with the American Institutes for Research to host an eye-opening Youth Reentry Simulation Event in February. This unique experience allowed participants to step into the shoes of young individuals returning home from secure detention, offering a firsthand glimpse of the challenges and decisions they face during reintegration.

The primary goal of the simulation was to enhance understanding of the obstacles confronting our youth as they return to their communities across Georgia. At the same time, it reinforced our shared commitment to ensuring their successful reintegration. This event truly exemplified our belief in second chances, emphasizing that every young person deserves support, resources, and the hope for a brighter future. Let’s continue to work together to make that a reality!
