ATTENTION ALL POTENTIAL JUVENILE CORRECTIONAL OFFICER (JCO 1) CANDIDATES:

All applicants for a JCO 1 position will be required to take the P.O.S.T. approved entrance exam prior to submitting an application for employment. Approved P.O.S.T exams are Accuplacer, Asset, Compass, SAT, ACT or CRE (O.C.G.A § 35-8-8). Applicants for JCO 1 positions will only be considered with accompanying passing test scores. If an applicant for a JCO 1 position has a 4-year degree from an accredited college or university OR a current P.O.S.T. certification they are EXEMPT from having to take the entrance exam and do NOT have to provide any test scores. However, the applicant must provide a copy of the degree or P.O.S.T. profile with their completed application.

 

Acceptable test scores are as follows:

SAT: 430 Verbal 400 Math

ACT: 18 Verbal 16 Math

CPE: 75 Reading 75 Math 75 English

Compass: 70 Reading 32 Writing 26 Numerical*

Asset: 38 Reading 35 Writing 35 Numerical*

Accuplacer: 55 Reading 60 Writing 34 Numerical*

 

This position is eligible for a Military Salary Incentive. This incentive is for current/former service members who have served on active duty.

 

NEW SALARIES FOR JUVENILE CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS:

JCO1: $27,936

JCO2: $29,150.10 (after one year of service as a JCO 1)
