DJJ Cares: Bell Minor Home Father's Day

July 10, 2019

Recently, Department of Juvenile Justice youth from around Georgia participated in a group community service project to create speciality greeting cards to support the Father's Day holiday.  Working with staff, youth from the Metro Regional Youth Detention Center (Metro RYDC) and Gainesville Regional Youth Detention Center (Gainesville RYDC) pulled together their resources to show support and compassion to those in their local communities.

The youth at the Metro RYDC and Gainesville RYDC provided a basket of cards that they created to the Bell Minor Personal Care Home in Gainesville.  The basket was filled with cards created by the students and donated to the senior male residents of the facility. DJJ Commissioner Avery Niles, Gainesville RYDC Director Herman Oglesby, and Victim and Volunteer Services Director DeBaja Coleman helped deliver the basket to Bell Minor.

The Department of Juvenile Justice would like to thank the youth and staff who helped make this year's Father's Day a memorable one for those in special need.  The pride and awareness showed in each basket and each card clearly was evident and brought joy to all who had the chance to experience the moment.
